Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for three-dimensional sound
Dolby Atmos uses two ceiling or upwards firing speakers (5.1.2 mode) to produce a multi-dimensional, immersive sound that's a match for the finest cinemas. DTS:X literally pushes the boundaries of what you can expect from home cinema.

It renders images in three dimensions that conventional processing can't match. It also easily adapts to your existing speaker configuration. If you prefer conventional surround sound, the Sony STR-DH790 also operates in 7.2 surround mode.

DCAC for superior audio
Advanced DCAC uses Automatic Phase Matching to align the phase of your speakers. This means you don’t need to use the same speaker on all channels for perfectly seamless sound.

Simply let DCAC analyse the sound and match all the speakers to the front left and right channel’s characteristics.

Optimised for 4K UHD and HDR
The STRDH790 features flexible HDMI connectivity on all four inputs. It supports HDCP 2.2 and HDR, which means you, can play UHD Blu-ray discs and stream UltraHD video in the highest quality.

The HDMI sockets allow 4K pass-through, for hassle free switching and viewing without the receiver needing to be turned on.

Music streaming and more via Bluetooth
When you’re not watching movies, this flexible Sony is just as happy streaming music from your smartphone or tablet. Simply connect via Bluetooth and enjoy your stored music and favourite streaming services such as Spotify and Deezer.

A neat extra function is the ability to power the receiver on from your smartphone, too.

High-Resolution audio compatible
As well as offering room-shaking power, the Sony STRDH790 is also compatible with High-Resolution Audio.

This offers a sound that's far more natural sounding than standard audio. The STR-DH790 also supports DSD formats – with a sampling frequency that’s 64x that of conventional CD, for stunningly detailed sound.
