The Q Acoustics M40 Powered Micro-Tower Speakers in Walnut combine room-filling stereo performance with an elegant, compact design that requires no separate amplifier. Standing just 71cm tall, the M40 features built-in Class-D amplification, Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD and high-resolution optical and USB connectivity, finished in a warm Walnut veneer that works particularly well in traditional and contemporary interiors.

The M40 is ideal for anyone who likes the performance and scale of traditional floorstanding hi-fi but wants a considerably cleaner system. The speakers, amplification and DSP are engineered together, leaving just the two elegant micro-towers in the room rather than speakers plus an amplifier and multiple components.

Proper Stereo Without a Separate Amplifier

The M40 consists of one powered loudspeaker containing the amplification and control electronics and a matching passive speaker connected using the supplied 4m cable. This provides a genuine two-channel stereo system while keeping setup exceptionally straightforward.

Built-in Class-D amplification delivers 2 × 50W RMS with peak output of 2 × 100W. Q Acoustics also uses onboard digital signal processing to optimise low-frequency extension, soundstage and the speakers' response according to their position in the room.

C³ Continuous Curved Cone Drivers

Two 125mm C³ Continuous Curved Cone mid/bass drivers are fitted to each tower. The profile was developed to combine strong bass performance with controlled midrange behaviour and smooth integration with the 22mm tweeter.

The result is a quoted frequency response extending down to 38Hz at -6dB, giving the compact M40 considerably more low-frequency authority than its dimensions suggest. A dedicated RCA subwoofer output is also provided for users wanting even greater bass extension.

Advanced Q Acoustics Cabinet Technology

The compact cabinet incorporates Q Acoustics' Point to Point™ internal bracing, strengthening areas of the enclosure most susceptible to unwanted vibration. Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser™ technology is also used to reduce internal pressure and standing waves that can colour the sound of a floorstanding loudspeaker.

The DSP can be adjusted depending on whether the M40 is positioned near a corner, against a wall or in free space, helping maintain controlled bass in a variety of real-world rooms. The powered speaker can also operate as either the left or right channel for easier installation.

Wireless and High-Resolution Listening

Bluetooth 5.0 gives the M40 an easy connection to smartphones, tablets and laptops, with support for aptX, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, AAC and SBC. Compatible aptX HD devices can deliver audio up to 24-bit/48kHz wirelessly.

For higher-resolution sources, USB Type-B and optical TOSLINK inputs support audio up to 24-bit/192kHz. Optical makes the M40 an excellent two-channel TV sound system, while the RCA and 3.5mm analogue inputs make it easy to add traditional hi-fi sources.
