55-inch QD-Mini LED picture quality

Its versatile 55-inch screen is well suited to living rooms, media rooms and larger bedrooms, while 4K Ultra HD resolution produces clear, detailed images across films, sport, television and games.

This 55-inch model has 112 individually controlled local-dimming zones. Different sections of the backlight can be brightened or darkened independently, helping the television display vivid highlights alongside deeper black levels and improved shadow detail.

TCL’s all-domain halo control technology combines high-efficiency Mini LEDs, condensed micro-lens optics, Micro-OD construction, an HVA panel and advanced backlight processing. This helps control unwanted light around bright objects and reduce the blooming sometimes visible in dark scenes.

Up to 600-nit HDR brightness

The 55A400M reaches peak HDR brightness of up to 600 nits. This allows sunlight, reflections, flames and other bright picture highlights to appear with greater impact while preserving more detail in surrounding areas.

The high-native-contrast HVA panel further improves dark-scene performance, helping films and programmes appear more layered and immersive. Automatic brightness control can also adapt the picture according to the viewing environment.

Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG support provide broad compatibility with HDR films, streaming programmes, television broadcasts and games. Dolby Vision IQ can adjust compatible Dolby Vision content according to the lighting conditions in the room.

Rich Quantum Dot colour

TCL’s QLED technology reproduces more than one billion colour shades and covers up to 93% of the DCI-P3 colour space. Colours appear richer and more varied, with smoother gradients and more natural-looking skin tones.

The TSR AiPQ Processor analyses picture clarity, contrast, colour and motion in real time. Lower-resolution broadcasts and streamed content are intelligently processed to appear cleaner and more detailed on the 55-inch 4K screen.

4K gaming at up to 144Hz

The TCL 55A400M supports 4K gaming at up to 144Hz with compatible consoles, PCs, cables and source material. The higher refresh rate helps fast movement appear smoother and clearer during racing, shooting, sports and action games.

Variable Refresh Rate synchronises the television’s refresh rate with the output from compatible gaming equipment, helping reduce screen tearing and stutter. Auto Low Latency Mode automatically selects a more responsive picture mode when a compatible console is detected.

AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, HDMI 2.1 gaming features, TCL Game Master, Game Bar, Superwide Gameview and an on-screen aiming aid provide additional tools for compatible games and equipment.

288Hz Game Accelerator at Full HD resolution

The advertised 288Hz Game Accelerator operates at 1920 × 1080 Full HD resolution. It does not provide 288Hz gaming at 4K resolution.

Compatible PC gamers can switch to the lower Full HD resolution to achieve refresh rates of up to 288Hz, while 4K content is supported at up to 144Hz.

Google TV entertainment

Google TV brings streaming services, applications, live television and connected devices together through one straightforward interface. Personalised recommendations make it easier to find films and programmes across supported subscriptions without opening each application separately.

Individual profiles can provide different recommendations for each member of the household, while a dedicated children’s profile offers parental controls and age-appropriate content options.

Apple AirPlay 2 allows compatible photos, music and videos to be shared from an iPhone, iPad or Mac. Voice search and compatible smart-home controls are also available, subject to country, account, language and service availability.

Art Gallery, Photo Wall and Ambient Mode

When the television is not being used for regular viewing, the 55A400M can display artwork, personal photographs, digital clocks and calming ambient scenes.

TCL’s Art Gallery includes a curated selection of classic paintings, impressionist works, contemporary art, digital images and abstract designs. Compatible photographs can also be uploaded through the TCL Home app, allowing the screen to operate as a large digital photo frame.

ONKYO sound with Dolby Atmos

The integrated ONKYO 2.0-channel audio system delivers 20 watts of speaker power through two 10-watt speakers. ONKYO tuning is designed to provide clear dialogue and a balanced presentation across films, television, sport and games.

Dolby Atmos processing adds a greater sense of space and height to compatible soundtracks. The television can also be connected to a compatible soundbar through HDMI eARC or its optical digital audio output.

TCL’s Tutti Choral feature can allow the television speakers and selected compatible TCL soundbars to operate together, creating a broader and more integrated soundstage.

Ultra-slim 39.9mm flat-back design

The screen cabinet measures approximately 39.9mm deep, giving the TCL 55A400M a clean profile when viewed from the side. Its flat unibody back, minimal bezel and integrated cable management help it blend into modern living spaces.

An appropriate ultra-slim wall bracket is required to achieve the closest possible fit against the wall. The television is also supplied with a fixed tabletop stand measuring approximately 823mm across at its widest point.
